Hi Sally and Al!
The world keeps getting smaller. Not only did we meet you in Cartagena, then run into you again in Rhodes, then sail with you on the EYMR, but it turns out my Mom's cousin taught your son for sixth grade. Small world.
Hope you guys are having a great time in the Black Sea. Twixter is cruising Croatia right now and will make our way to Marmaris for winter. Where will you keep Artemis? We have signed up for the EMYR next year and hope to start in Istanbul. Hope we get a chance to catch up along the way.
Take Care,
Cathy

I've been following your voyage from the beginning, and have enjoyed reading your log very much. I'm having withdrawal symptoms now that you're not posting regularly. You must have lousy internet access, or you are just so darn relaxed from following the wind (and your mood) that posting your log on-line is the farthest thing on your mind (I'd be in that camp). Rest assured, that there are some of us out here sitting in our arm chairs following along with you on your travels and have been enjoying the trip very much. I look forward to your postings again when you're able. Happy sailing!

I was thinking about you over the weekend, for no particular reason, and thought I would check in on your website to see where they heck you are. My, my! You've been on that boat so long, MY legs are getting rubbery. We're getting ready for the Democratic National Convention which starts next week here in Denver. Hi,
You are doing a great job on your site. Kron's sister Kim was just yachting in the Greek Islands for her husband Garry's b-day. Kron and I had so many plans to do a lot of traveling. I was just in Alaska for a 30 hr layover and took a bus and cruise through the Prince William Sound. It wasn't a full flight so he could of got on. He retired in Oct 07. He had chest pains at 11:00pm on 04/17 and after they gave him a couple sprays of nitro he felt better and walked from our house to the ambulance. He arrested about a mile from our house. He had no heart problems so they think it was a blood clot. I changed and followed in the car, thinking I'm bringing him home after he gets a check up.I still can't believe it, the boys and I miss him terribly. I was with Kron for 41 years!! I'm so glad I was home. He was always asking about your adventures. Now he's an angel with Frankie watching over you.
Enjoy and keep your love!

How are you? Are you enjoying your trip?I hope you have a good Christmas! Are you getting snow? We are getting lots of snow.I haven't gone sledding yet because last year my innertube blew away and my other sled is heavy and I'm so light that someone would have to grab the string and run down the hill really fast. But the good thing is that I have a hill in my backyard and it's really fun to go down.
Happy Holidays!!!

Hi, Al and Sally: As I wrote in another email sent to me by Valerie, I'm wondering if you ever received your education placque from HVVS&PS;? AND, when are you returning to Minn.? We/d love to have you speak at a HV squadron meeting. (Jim and Linnea Wise spoke last fall about their Circle Trip. Now we have to have you . . . )
I see your test message from April 24, Sally, but I can't tell if you're really in Minn. I enjoyed the school children's messages to you. (Harry Potter was too boring? Wow . . . I've read each book twice . . . and can't wait for the final installment.) Also enjoyed the last log entry about your dining out . . . octopus, et al. Yummy!
Look forward to hearing from you. HV is hosting the District 10 Summer Rendesvous July 6-8, 2007. If you're in the USA, hope you can come. Valerie says you're attending a son's wedding this summer?

Well guys, I've given up on trying to contact with email. I have no idea if I'm sending it correctly. It doesn't come back. I keep meaning to call Patrick P. and find out how... but I never get to it! So the world gets to read my private thoughts! Sam has taken to "big school" like a fish to water :-) He's found a niche for his humor, creativity, and love to talk! He's in love with his teacher... 25, blond, sweet.... He's taking jazz and tap dancing(another step towards becoming his idol Dick Van Dyke. Bert in Mary Poppins is his goal!) His piano teacher thinks he's wonderful( I watched 2 weeks and saw him pick up everything and quiz her on her life! It drove me crazy!I sit in the car now :-)Grant has been a super volunteer, helping set up computers etc. Bronzie the golden retriever died in July... layed down in the shade and never got up! We're glad we adopted the miniature schnauzer last spring, Jazzy has eased our loss with another to love. Sammy spins quite a tale about Grandma and Bronzie in heaven... we have many a long reminice when a song, or story, or... reminds him of Grandma...we so miss Grandma and Grandpa in our everyday life! I've missed the back to school phone calls about our new groups of kids Sally! There's always a story to tell there!I'm so glad your journy is exciting and full of adventure. I wish I could be a fly on the sail!
Take care, we love you, Brigid, Sam, and Grant

Happy belated birthday Sally and happy anniversary to you both. Sounds like you are really enjoying this trip as well you should. What a great way to remember your anniversay.
I'm sure it was great to see Pat and Nikki and have the time you did with them. It is great to hear your wonderful stories of your views and experiences.
Our roof is totaled from the hail storm here in town and could use some of your professional advice, but I'm sure you don't need to be bothered with thinking about work. I'm sure we'll get through it.
Wishing we were there as well. Love Pat & Carol

Hello Sally and Al! We've been in Portland about a week for Ingrid and Warren's wedding. Warren is a wonderful addition to the family. This morning we delivered them to the airport for their honeymoon in Spain (Barcelona). It was a full weekend of wedding fun, including a four-mile hike, a Greek dinner (you haven't lived until you see Larry belly dance), and Judy fixed post-wedding brunch at their house for everyone still here Monday morning (maybe 70). The ceremony was outdoors in Portland's Rhododendron Gardens, followed by dinner and dancing to Afro-funk music on a downtown Portland rooftop. They bet on weather and went for broke, but it was perfect. Tomorrow we're off to that other coast, just to round things out, then we'll have about a week aboard Allegro in the Apostles before work begins again. Enjoyed a long conversation with Rich Olson before we left.
Here's wishing Sally a super happy birthday, and we send anniversary "felicitaciones" to both of you!
Fair winds, grand adventures, and best,
Judy and Larry

Hi Pribyls! Don't check in very frequently, but your'e both in our thoughts and prayers often. Happy belated anniversay! 8/23 is also my(Sherene's) mom's birthday (she turned 65, and is counting the days until she retires in December). Happy birthday Sally! Mark celebrated his 45th birthday on 8/29, unfortunately nothing too exciting for dinner that night, we went out to Broadway Pizza for Megan's end of season soccer party. I bet it feels weird not to be stressing out about getting a classroom ready for Tuesday (ha,ha, - you probably don't miss it that much, however, I'm sure you miss the social contact with fellow educators) Tell Al he missed some large hail in MN, I guess from Nicollet - Northfield, reports of golfball to softball(!) sized hail. I bet he really misses all of those estimates for Giertsen :-) Mark's back to almost a full caseload now, keeping an eye on him that he doesn't work too many hours per week.
Your trip log sounds unbelievably beautiful. Hope you are both enjoying this experience of a lifetime along with the bumps along the way (good thing your'e both good at fixing things) Take care, Love to both of you. Sherene & Mark Peterson

ahoy, quick question, because you dock at all these different ports of call. how do pay for the goods and service that surround your day? is the credit card the fastest and safest method? or is it mostly euro $$ ? and do you need to plan this aspect for every new counrty ? I would be uncomfortable disclosing to strangers the fact of U S citizenship or xchanging U S dollars in a port city, The airports on the planet are under this crazy secur-watch terror nonsense. whats it like when the first rope or foot touches the dock? are you met by uniformed or armed men with unhappy smiles and lots of odd questions? I have a strange notion that you folks come and go almost unnoticed with compact sailing vessel. I B curious. rand

Ahoy, Hows life on the high seas? Unpredictable and awe inspiring no doubt! On aug 27(depending on your location on the planet) the planet Mars will be so close to earth it may resemble the moon, idealy both shall be visible(lack of a cloud deck hopefully) This is rare event and wont reoccur for several hundred years or so. So if you are at sea with the billions of other stars and its cosmic lite show this is the ultimate topper! good winds abound ye. rand

My daughter Lana and Son-in-Law Mike live across the street from your Son Pat and Daughter-in-Law Nicci.(s) I happened to be visiting with my Grandchildren for the week-end and had the pleasure of having a few libations with some of the neighbors Sunday evening. It was exceptionally interesting to hear about Pat's parents "odessey". Couldn't believe what you folks have been and are doing. I was in the Navy for 3 1/2 years and served on a Carrier (Saratoga) in the early '60's. Made a north Atlantic trip as well as a 6 month cruise in the Mediteranian. Loved every minute of "Port-side" duty, but had a lot of "not so nice experiences at sea as well".
Pat gave me the web site, so I will be keeping track of your future voyages-(I understand they will be joining you very soon). Hope you have a wonderful get-together with your family and a continued safe voyage.
Warm regards;

How are you? It sounds like you are having a lot of fun in Ireland! Did you have a good time with the dolphin? What does it feel like to be out in the ocean and not see any land?
Would you like to live in Ireland some day? Do you like Ireland better than Minnesota?
I have been having a pretty good summer. I have been having fun with my neighborhood friends like Dustin Hron, Tom Johnson, Ricky Jackson, Brice Miller, Tony, Quinn E., Nick and Alex R. I have been enjoying soccer this summer. I have made almost all of the goals for my team!

Its been in the 90's for 19 days so far and its going to hit close to 100 degrees this weekend. My baseball team took 3rd place in our league. We got a neat trophy. Al, Salley and Mike We were tied off behind you at Kaitlyn Marine abord Vibrant when you were in Sodus Point. I have enjoyed reading both logs. It sounds like Judy and Salley hve been doing some great cooking. I think you are safer out in the ocean than I am in Sodus Point. I arrived at the boat to day only to discover that I had been hit by another boat while Vibrant was on the mooring. Cracked the toe rail and bent the stern pulpit.
I hope you get the weather fax to work. It is nice to have an idea what kind of weather is coming. Your log says if you would like email up dates to let you know which I would. I realy do not know how that differ from reading the logs.
A quarting sea I find is one of the toughest seas to deal with. You are constantly bracing and that becomes very tiring. Good luck.

Hello everyone, although I know very little (= non) about sailing, but I know it takes a lot of courage to sail across an ocean. People say every American got dream, and I know my sister, Judy's dream is to do what she is doing now. I imagin now you must be sitting at somewhere in the atlantic ocean. How is it? Is it anything like "the Old man and the sea" of Ernest Hemmingway? Have safe trip all the way through, you guys!! God bless you all.

Hi there, all. I am writing to check up on my uncle, MIKE.
I know that he can be a bit of a nut, but he sure is a hard worker. I hope you are all having the time of your lives; it sure sounds exciting. We have a world map on our wall, and we are able to follow your progress easily.
Seeing the whales sounds very exciting! I sure hope all is well and that you only have to endure limited motion sickness (not that Mike would admit it if he did have any...).
Can't wait to hear about Ireland, Mike.
See you later,
Chrissy Valento your niece

You may have heard that a severe storm hit Port Superior on Sat 6/17 and damaged PSMA dock one. All Dock one vessels are berthed on dock 2,4,or bulkheads. Pikes Bay Marina lost dock one and three completely. Porions of their docks tried to leave the marina. We have new neighbors on dock 4 now. Weeee, what excitement! Pace was out to Rasberry bay at the timeand only experienced the chaos on returning Few boats were damaged although Patience tipped over on her craddle and her mast snapped. Allegro is fine and living on the other side of dock 3. Temptress is as good as can be expxted and remains the same.Be glad you were out to see. We do miss you all. Jane sends her blessings. Which reminds me that I had Pace blessed at the blessing of the fleet and not 5 min. later on the way home to Port the engine began to exhibit fuel problems and would not hold rpms.???? But for you all God speed, Mark and Jane

We really miss you guys and even Mike on dock 4. The place is deserted and boring. I been forced to wander over to dock 3 to get in trouble! Seriously, have a wonderful and safe trip across. You are living the dream we all hoped to do. Live it well and enjoy the moments. Jane and Butts wanted me to remind you to be sure and get to mass every Sunday. I believe you can get EWTN (Mother Angelica) on the shortwave. If n,ot Al probably remembers enough fron Naz. Hall to do a respectable jog of officiating. Bon Voyage , Mark and Jane

Hello Sailors,
After all these years of Lake Superior sails you've finally made the BIG PLUNGE ! I can only speculate as to why you have invited Mike Sikorra, but rest asured, he will certainly pull his weight. He cries like a baby when we are skiing the Rockies,so expect some weird behavior about "Manhatten Time". I haven't met Larry, but look forward to it one day soon. Please keep in touch and know that many of your friends are happy for you. Add me to your email list. Best Regards, David Bolinger
