Dear Family and Friends,

Sunday after the Terrorist Attack we took the Metro to Arc de Triumphe area to go to mass at St. Patrick's an English speaking church we joined when we arrived in Paris. It was very quiet on the trains and streets for a Sunday in Paris. Father reminded us in his sermon that "one never knows the time or place of ones death" and that we should live life not in fear but with joy.

France | Paris | Place St. Sulpice

We walked our usual Sunday walk to St. Sulpice for lunch by the Eiffel Tower, Champs Mars and Invalades. Then to Jardin du Luxembourg. But the gardens like most public places were closed for the week.

France | Paris | Early Thanksgiving Dinner

We made Thanksgiving dinner for Al and I on Wednesday because the Americans in the marina went to a restaurant (Cafe Paul) on Thanksgiving. Plus everyone knows the best part about Thanksgiving dinner is leftovers!! We had a nice concert at the Louvre that day too. We visited Musee Carnavalet, Jardins des Plantes, and Gallerie de Evolution over the weekend. Today was packing, winterizing, and cleaning Artemis as we fly back to USA tomorrrow. We treated ourselves to a nice dinner at Cafe Paul.

Paris Terrorist Attack

Dear Family and Friends,

Just a quick note to let you know Al and I are safe aboard Artemis. We were in bed by 2100 last night reading and had both fallen asleep so we didn't hear any of the commotion despite most of it happening within a mile or two from here. We were awake about 0230 reading but didn't realize what was going on until Al turned on his computer around 0430 to look at emails. We are sorry you were worried about us for so many hours before we responded to messages. We don't have TV so we get our news from the internet. Parisian's have been asked to stay home today but people are out and bakeries and supermarkets are open. We plan to lay low. We have plenty of boat projects to keep us busy today. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of those who died or were injured during these horrific events last night. Love and God Bless Sally and Al

France | Paris| Arc de Triomphe | a view from the top

November 8, 2015 Dear Family and Friends, The first Sunday of the month many of the museums and tourist sites are open free to the public. We chose to visit the Arc de Triomphe and the Pantheon. We climbed the 285 step winding staircase (like a lighthouse) to the viewing platform of the Arc de Triomphe on a beautiful sunny day. Then we walked down the Champs d'Elysee, across the river and had our best meal in France so far at a small cafe near St. Sulpice.

After lunch we walked along Luxembourg Gardens and visited the Pantheon where many notable French citizens are intombed.

France | Paris | Place Sainte Genevieve | Eglise St. Etienne | double staircase over altar

France | Paris | Notre Dame | golden sunshine setting on Notre Dame

We visited beautiful Eglise St. Etienne on Place de Sainte Genevieve. next to the Pantheon. We stopped for coffee later and the sun was hitting Notre Dame turning it a lovely golden color. Street performers as usual on a Sunday were busy doing their thing for the crowds. The Annual Bastille Antique Fair was set up on both sides above the harbor at Port de l'Arsenal. We had free tickets so went to browse a couple of different times.
