April 2010 - Turkey
April 29, 2010 Hi everyone,
The weather continues to be sunny and warm. We left Bozburun on Monday and anchored in a beautiful anchorage, Mersincik on the northwest coast of the Datca Peninsula, south of Bodrum. We then motor sailed into the Gokova Gulf between Bodrum and Datca peninsula to a marvelous area with several excellent anchorages. The area is called Degirmen Buku and we are anchored in the all-around shelter of English Harbor surrounded by a pine forest. By the lo

March 28, 2010 Hi everyone, Happy Spring and Easter Week. Time seems to fly away from us here in Kemer Turkey as we are kept busy with boat jobs and activities. We had great fun on our Sunday hike today near Antalya. We hiked an old Roman Road and then went to a cave dwelling. We had a few sprinkles but when we got back to Kemer it was sunny and dry. The wind has picked up so it seems a bit chilly tonight. I had a "near bike loss" experience. The wind blew my bike over and wh

April 29, 2009 Hi all We went to Gocek on Monday and had the life raft serviced. Al and I watched as they inflated and went through all the supplies and parts. Berkant was good about explaining how everything worked and what needed to be replaced. A one year service cost 340 Euro. We decided to go with 3 year service documents for 500 Euro as we had many parts and supplies due to be updated and serviced either this year or next. He actually charged us 97 Euro less than the or

We hiked for 5 hours in the mountains Sunday. It was a trail we did last fall along a creek bed ablaze with fall colors.
This time we had spring flowers and some fruit trees blossoming. Great to be out enjoying hikes again. We begged off the hikes when we were on the hard especially when the wal

Merry Christmas Picture from Kemer Turkiz Marina 2008-2009 Liveaboard Cruisers Sunday Hike December 7 in Turkish Mountains December 13, 2008 We had one more beautiful hike last Sunday before we fly home on December 15. Gorgeous day and lots of climbing to keep us on our toes. We had a lot of wash outs on the trail so had to be careful where you stepped. I was glad for a helping hand a few times. The rest of the week we were busy getting the boat ready for haul out. We are no

September 2008 - Turkey
September 25, 2008 Hi
We left Kemer Marina this morning heading for Kekova Roads about 55nm. We'll stay a few days while some weather passes through and then early next week we'll leave the boat and take a ferry to Kastledirison. Every 90 days we have to leave Turkey to renew our visa. So we take a small ferry boat from Kas to a Greek Island a few miles off shore, spend a few hours, then go back to Turkey. We could take our own boat over but then we'd have to give up our Tur

August 31, 2008 We had a great 45nm downwind sail with 20-25 kt winds on Friday to Yesilkoy Limani near Kalkan, Turkey. It continued to blow in the anchorage but we were close in and a good anchor bite. Yesterday we had another fantastic downwind 30 nm sail. It's so fun not burning diesal and lots quieter. We anchored in Ucagiz Limani at Kekova Roads. Again the wind howled so we didn't leave the boat until this morning. We Went into the village and got bread and fruit. We met

July 28, 2008 Hi All
We left Wall Bay at 6 AM this morning and we motor sailed about 50 nm to Serce Liman about 16 nm SW of Marmaris. We're in a fjord type bay anchored near Captain Nemo's Restaurant. The wind is howling down the bay. It really piped up just as we were coming in gusting 35 but hopefully it'll calm down when the sun sets. I guess we need to get an earlier start to keep ahead of the afternoon meltemi winds. We plan to dingy into the restaurant for something to
